Title: can you recommend a good pottery studio?
Post by: crowl on December 24, 2023, 02:24:19 PM
Hi, I've always wanted to try pottery. Are there any studios in Boston where I can sign up for a one-time class to try my hand at this art?

Good pots begin and end with form. Strip away everything else – the decoration and the firing, who its maker was, where, when and how it has been made – and all that remains is a pot's shape, its silhouette. No amount of glaze wizardry, decoration, or potting kudos can save a bad form.

For a one-time pottery class in Boston, you might try The Clay School, Mudflat Pottery Studio, or Boston University's Pottery Studio. They all offer beginner-friendly workshops where you can try your hand at pottery (https://www.podchaser.com/podcasts/customise-stickers-5800123/episodes/regulations-and-compliance-in-218542067). It’s a good idea to call ahead to check class availability and schedules. Have fun with your pottery experience!
