A recent airplane trip and it's restrictions on carry-on luggage sent me looking for a small camera because my Nikon D-40 DSLR and it's extra lenses were going to be too much of a hassle. (I should mention I will use here at home on my motorcycle trips because, once again, the DSLR and it's lenses are too bulky - and expensive - to risk losing or damaging.)

I went for the Coolpix because my experience with Nikon equipment has been very good.

I was not surprised by the limited telephoto capabilities, but very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the enlargements I got from it's 10 megapixel shots. At 8x10 in size they were the equal of anything I ever got from film cameras.

It's small size made it an easy fit in the side pocket of the jacket I was wearing.

The included software featured a "stitching" program so I tried that out and was very pleased with the panoramic shots I got of the Seattle downtown and shoreline.

The camera did not include an SD card, but I knew that when I bought it. So I picked up a 4 gig card and when I saw it was capable of holding over a thousand pictures at the highest resolution I knew I was set for the trip.

While I prefer the Nikon DSLR I have, this little L20 Coolpix was a good buy for me and well worth the under $100 I paid for it.

I was looking for a cheap camera that took good pictures. I should have spent a little more for a decent camera, the money I saved wasn't worth it.

was happy with the camera until we dropped it.  then it never worked again.  I wish it had been more durable like other cameras I have owned

It is very difficult to take a photo that isn't blurry.  This camera is a piece of junk.   Don't buy it.    Very poor quality photos.  I bought this camera because I didn't want my wife taking my SLR on vacation.  She took this and it has a really hard time taking photos in low light, and if your subject isn't perfectly still and the photographer still, you will get blurry photos.  I am a professional photographer, and I have seen cheaper cameras do a better job. I am very disappointed in Nikon for selling this crap, becuase Nikon is my choice for SLR cameras.
