More and more people today tend to forget or lose their computer's password under such a high-pressure society. What would you do to handle with that when you experience the same trouble? How could you regain access to your computer when you forget the password? Here we show you two efficient methods on how to reset Windows 7 password and help you log on to your locked computer again.

Method 1: Reset Windows 7 password with password reset disk

Requirement: an USB flash drive

Windows 7 was designed to be able to create password reset disk without any other third party tools. If you remember the password, you could create a password reset disk through Windows 7's control panel in advance. And if you forgot Windows 7 password and was unable to log on to your computer, then you could use the disk to reset Windows 7 password. Now you could follow these simple steps to create one:

Step 1. Start your computer and log on Windows 7.

Step 2. Insert an USB flash drive into your computer.

Step 3. Click Start > Control Panel > User Accounts and Family Safety > User Accounts > Create a password reset disk.

Step 4. You will see the welcome screen. Click Next.

Step 5. Select your USB flash drive. Click Next.

Step 6. Type the login password in the password field. Click Next (now Windows 7 operating system should automatically create the disk for you).

Step 7. When the processes finish, Click Finish to exit.

You have successfully created a password reset disk now. And you could click here to view how to use the disk.

Note: One disk can only work for one account. You could not use this disk to reset the password of another user account.

Method 2: Reset Windows 7 password with third party software

Requirement:
1. a computer with a CD/DVD burner
2. a blank CD/DVD or USB flash drive

There is plenty of third party software which could create Windows password reset disk on the Internet. The created disk could be used to reset passwords for any version of Windows, including Windows 7. If you forgot to create a password reset disk through Windows 7's control panel before losing your password, then you may try this method. The benefit of this method is that you could create the disk any time and do not need to know the password. Here we recommend Windows Login Recovery and take it as an example to explain the procedures:

Step 1. Download Windows Login Recovery and install it on an available computer.

Step 2. Run the software and use it to create a password reset disk (you could burn the file into a blank CD/DVD or USB flash drive).

Step 3. Change the BIOS setting of your locked computer to make it boot from CD/DVD or USB flash drive.

Step 4. Boot your locked computer from the created disk and reset Windows 7 password.

You can also click here to view the Windows Login Recovery User Guide.

Note: The disk created through this way can reset passwords of all accounts instead of only one account.

Forgetting Windows 7 password is really a problem. But now you needn't worry about that any more. You could easily reset Windows 7 password by follow these methods in the future.
