Subacute medical term coined from the Greek words hydro water and cephalus ' header '. Formerly known as water in main disease, subacute neurological disorder characterized by chronic excessive accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in the ventricles four brain. CSF is a basic fluid surrounding the spinal cord and brain. The three vital functions: to control the amount of blood flow in brain; transfer of nutrients and protein to brain with waste disposal and alleviate brain shock. Once production of CSF, usually flowing through narrow paths linking the four ventricles and then returns in the brain before being absorbed directly into the bloodstream. Encephalitis occurs when production or absorption of CSF is concerned, hindering the natural flow of CSF. Accordingly, CSF builds, led to the expansion of abnormal ventricles and increasing pressure on the brain tissue. CSF pressure long affect the blood supply to the brain and interferes with the brain's ability to perform normal functions. Aundiagnosid and untreated, this condition can impair thinking and learning abilities, skill coordinated movements.
