Submit recent photos when filing Form N-565.

When you file Form N 565, you will need to submit two colored photos of yourself. These photos must have been taken within the last 30 days and must not be touched (that is, they must not have any smudges or fingerprints on them). Generally, these photos are passport-sized and must have a white background. Before sending these photos to the USCIS with your Form N-565, you must write your name and your Alien Registration Number (if you have one) very lightly in pencil on the back of each photo.

In addition, you must complete Form N-565 correctly, sign it, and submit it with the correct fees. If your original certificate of naturalization or certificate of citizenship was destroyed or damaged, you need to include the damaged certificate with your application. Mistakes in the application process can delay the application or can even cause the USCIS to reject your Form N-565 petition.
