Dealing With Child Obesity
« on: September 09, 2009, 10:14:10 PM »
Child obesity is an ordinary extraordinary case. While it may seem that there are so many obese children out there, people still think that being obese is a disorder. Children as early as two to five years old are already experiencing obesity which is very  dangerous to their health. Obesity have been found to result in more serious health concerns in the future besides from the present which is why parents and doctors are greatly alarmed when it comes to child obesity. At this young age, there is really nothing that parents can do because children must eat and be able to supply the right nutrients in their bodies.

This is why there are now improved ways in monitoring the health of obese children. Schools should always keep a regular health check up when it comes to the health of the children. Their weights and eating habits should always be monitored and improved by a nutritionist. This will allow the child to get the same amount of nutrients in the healthiest diet possible. This can even make the child lose more weight in order to have a healthier body. Part of this too should include having an exercise plan for the child. Of course, when one wants to maintain his body, a child should not only cut on the food intake but also ensure that the body is getting enough physical activity to burn fat and enhance muscle formation.

Not only will obesity have effects on the physical aspect, but also on emotional and the social development of the child. Child obesity can usually lead to negative feeling of children about their self. Other children might laugh at them, seclude them from their set of friends and become an outcast. This can really be one of the things that can affect the emotions of the children which can lead to trauma. This is why most obese children learn to live alone, away from other people. Parents would not want this to happen to their children.

The mass media has really influenced the views of people when it comes to these things. People are leaning towards the impression that children, as young as they are should have an ideal body. Once a child grows up to be fat, they are seem to be ugly people. This can really affect the attitude of the children. Self confidence should be developed as early as possible so children must not have a bad impression about being fat.

It is now the responsibility of the teachers that the children have a positive attitude about their bodies. If they notice that a child is being secluded because of obesity, then they must encourage interaction among the kids. At the same time, they must teach the children that there is nothing wrong about child obesity, they must not make fun of these things. In fact, they should be friends will all the children in school, regardless of the body that they have. Always encourage a healthy environment in the classroom which can help in the development of the child emotionally for the future.
