As you know, Magento default only allows admin to set up base currency for Website level. Therefore, customers always checkout with only one base currency no matter whichever currency they can see on the frontend in every store views.
For example, US Dollar is base currency for the whole website. Admin can set Display currency in French store view as Euro and also set currency rate to exchange US Dollars to Euro. In the frontend of French store view, base prices of product are displayed in Euro, but customers always checkout by US Dollars when they go to checkout.
