All You Need To Know About Printer Ink
« on: January 24, 2013, 03:19:38 PM »
Well we all know what ink is but the ink that is especially made for printer ink cartridges is called printer ink. The quality of printing depends on 3 things; the quality of the printer, the quality of the printing paper and the quality of the printer ink. If you use good quality printer ink, the quality will reflect in the printing. So make sure you use good quality printer ink, if you want your final project to look good and impressive.
Unlike other inks, printer ink has different type of manufacturing techniques. The material that is used in the making of this printer ink is also very different. It includes stuff like dyes, de-ionized water, pigments, biocides, fungicides, distilled surfactants, resins, buffering agents, and humectants. So printer ink’s manufacturing technique makes it unique from the other inks.
So the combination of these elements makes sure that the quality of the printer ink that is produced meets the specifications of OEM ink. A particular type and quality of pigment and dye ensures that they overcome the surface tension and the wetting of the paper while resins and humectants, ensure the adhesions of the paper and minimize the evaporation respectively.
Mainly there are two types of printer inks i.e. dye based printer ink and pigment based printer ink. The good thing about dye based printer ink is that they produce crisp, bold and sharp printing results. Also, they produce brighter and more colourful printing results. This type of printer ink is very stable and can be stored for a long period of time. But everything has its pros and cons, so the negative thing about dye printer ink is that it is kind of slow in penetrating and takes around ten seconds to dry up.
While on the other hand pigment printer ink is super fast, super light and waterproof. Also this type of printer ink is fade resistant. As if this already wasn’t enough, this ink dries much quicker than dye based printer ink and is very suitable for colour printing as it prevents the burring. The toxicity level of pigment based printer ink is also very less than that of dye based printer ink cartridges. But the sad part is that this type of printer ink does not produce a printing result that is as bright and sharp than the printing result of dye based printer ink.
The ink manufacturing companies are trying their best to produce an ink that is fade resistant, water proof, reliable and also dries quickly. So if you’re looking to buy some printer ink for your machine, make sure that the printer ink you are going for is compatible with the ink cartridges your printer has as printer ink gives best results only when used with the cartridges they are designed for.
