« on: November 28, 2013, 03:41:46 AM »

Microsoft has manufactured three versions of the popular video game console Xbox 360, each equips with a different type of power supply. The Xbox 360 power supply is required to provide your console with electricity so it can play games and movies. just like the console itself, an Xbox 360 power supply can become damaged over time due to typical wear or abuse. Therefore, as a Xbox 360 gamer, you need to know how to determine which power supply is needed and test an Xbox 360 power supply to make sure it's functioning properly.

How to find a suitable Xbox 360 power supply for your console?
1.   Identify the shape and size of the groves within the power connector. Each generation of Xbox has a slightly different physical appearance.
2.   Match the Xbox 360 manufacture date with the type of motherboards. Xenon and Zephyr motherboards were introduced in the first generation of Xbox 360 in 2005 to late 2007, the Falcon and Opus second generation motherboards were introduced from late 2007 to July 2008 and the latest Jasper motherboards were used in the 3rd Generation Xbox 360 from August 2008 and are still in use today.
3.   Assess the type of wattage needed to power the Xbox 360. Although you can purchase factory power supplies and connectors for your Xbox 360, OEM replica power supplies and connectors can be cheaper to purchase through third-party suppliers.

How test you Xbox 360 power supply?
1.   Check the Xbox 360 power supply for any physical wear or damage. A damaged power supply with torn or fraying wires should not be used and must be replaced.
2.   Connect the power brick portion of the power supply to a working Xbox 360 console.
3.   Connect the AC power plug into the power brick portion of the power supply firmly.
4.   Plug the AC power plug into a functioning three-prong electrical outlet or surge protector, making sure the surge protector is switched on.
5.   Take note of the color of the small light on the power brick portion of the power supply. Green means the power supply is working correctly. Orange means the console is off or that the power supply is improperly connected to the console. Red signifies a voltage overload or overheating. No light means the power supply isn't getting any power.
6.   Press the power button on the Xbox 360 to turn on the console. The power supply light should change from orange to green if the power supply is functioning properly.
