You should start with two workouts a week and build up to three times when you feel that you have a handle on your routine. Exercises like bench pressing and squats are especially good for bulking up your muscles. Dead-weight lifting is also an excellent option. The effectiveness of these exercises at building up your muscles and improving your overall fitness is undeniable. Although you can perform other exercises in your routine, these should be the ones you focus on. Only plan to do three or four workouts each week. This allows your body to repair and regenerate itself between workouts. If you work out too often, you can cause injury to your body and defeat your purpose of staying healthy. Choose your barbell weights carefully to ensure complete safety. Excess weight during neck exercises, dips, or split squats could put your joints at risk of serious injury.
